The Burrito of Doom

After much trial and error, through gastronomical mishaps, skirmish lines of palatability and the unexplored regions of indelicacies beyond human imagination, I have stumbled across this rare specimen.

A burrito of such impeccable pedigree that not only satisfies the appetite, sometimes for days, but also stands apart from others of its namesake in a saintly glow of exceptional nutritional, medicinal and beneficial effects. Not to mention it's scrumptious.

It requires only about 5 minutes to prepare the basic mix for about 6 burritos. Click on the picture for a more detailed visual, but essentially you need these 6 things:
  • Whole Wheat Flour Tortillas. 96% Fat Free.
  • Uncle Ben's Ready Rice. Whole Grain Brown. Microwaveable in 90 seconds.
  • Black Beans
  • Sargento's Reduced Fat 4 Cheese Mexican shredded cheese
  • Chicken Breast
  • Salsa or Green Chili
Nuke the rice for 90 seconds, then mix in the beans and chicken. Nuke again for about 60 seconds, then spoon out some on top of a couple of tortillas and put a handful of cheese on top of each. You can put the rest of the mix in a container to refrigerate for later. Nuke the flat tortillas with the mix on top and the cheese on top of that until the cheese melts. Spoon on salsa or green chili and roll it up. You now have two steaming burritos, which constitute one serving, which contains:

53g Protein
11g fiber (about half your fiber requirements for the day)
6.5g Saturated fat
4g Polyunsaturated fat

50% of daily Calcium
120% of daily Vitamin C

830 calories (you could put less than a handful of cheese on each, if you insisted, and/or eat only one to reduce this if it sounds like too much. I burn about 2,300 calories a day so this is one solid meal; after this for lunch however, I can only eat a light dinner :-)

More protein than a t-bone steak, and less fat.
More fiber than a plate full of broccoli.
More vitamin C than an Orange.
More calcium than a big glass of milk.
High in anti-oxidants.
And yummy!

  2. Sounds Great...but I think I'm going to try it with some fajita meat (seasoned with "all season") and some grilled onion & bell pepper....oh man, time to make a list and head back to the store.
